Design Intern (UI/UX, Print & Digital)

Remote

Design Intern (Contract: UI/UX, Print & Digital)

Location: Northwest Arkansas (Remote with occasional in-person work)

Duration: Summer 2025 (May 12th 2025 – Aug 1st 2025)

Compensation: $20/hour (Contract Position)

Position Overview: I’m a freelance designer expanding my business and looking for a motivated Design Intern to join me as I take things to the next level. This is an opportunity to learn hands-on about designing for both print and digital, including brand design, UI/UX, and custom Shopify and WordPress themes. I’ve got a lot of experience to share, but you’ve got to bring your A-game. I need someone who’s ready to hustle, dive into projects, and is serious about mastering design. This could be the start of something big as the business evolves into a full agency. The intern will be considered for an extended internship or even full-time employment if performance standards are met.

Location:

  • This is a remote position. Everything will be coordinated through Google Hangouts and Google Workspace. I prefer the same time zone, and it would be nice to have someone in Northwest Arkansas, although it’s not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Help design mockups for custom Shopify and WordPress themes.
  • Create assets for use on websites with correct sizing and compression.
  • Style and customize Shopify pre-built themes for clients.
  • Work on brand design projects like logos, visual identities, business cards, brochures, and other marketing materials.
  • Collaborate on UI/UX wireframes and designs for websites, mobile apps, and other digital platforms.
  • Assist with creating wireframes, mockups, and final designs.
  • Learn how to balance client needs with creative ideas and best practices.
  • Research design trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.
  • Take part in brainstorming sessions and client meetings (as needed).

Qualifications:

  • You should have a basic understanding of design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop. (Experience with Figma is a plus)
  • Some familiarity with Shopify and WordPress would be great, but I can guide you through the basics.
  • Familiar with email etiquette and ability to work in an organized systematic manner.
  • A good eye for detail, typography, color, and brand identity. Ability to spell and grammar check everything.
  • Willingness to put in the hours to really learn the craft and be part of something growing.
  • You don’t have to be an expert, but you have to be hungry to become one.
