On this one, I skipped the digital illustration side. I used good ol’ pen and paper for the pattern. I wanted that roughness. I didn’t want equally distributed patterns as predictable as a Walmart shower curtain. I wanted something on the edge of chaos, that seemed energized by the type in the middle.

As for the type itself, something with subtle diagonal pin striping seemed right. Maybe it’s the gangster under the surface in NOLA. Who knows.
